Philip Woodfield Classical Guitar with case Series II 2005

A very beautiful classical guitar in excellent condition, at a great price

Sale price £2,000 – Two Thousand UK Pounds PLUS shipping.

See top of page for Conditions Of Purchase and Contact email.

From Philip Woodfield’s website:

This model is a development of the Series One, incorporating a top that has a more modern technical approach. One aspect of this is the introduction of carbon into the strutting. The drive behind this model is to produce more volume from a top of traditional thickness. These guitars are very bright in sound and particularly in the hands of a strong player, are loud. They have a very good long-term development when played in well and are characterised by excellent sustain. Highest quality spruce is used for the top and I prefer to use one of the harder rosewoods for the back and sides – Madagascar or Rio.

Current new price £3700.

Panormo copy (2003) by Simon Ambridge – £2,300 – Two Thousand Three Hundred UK Pounds

Superb 19th-century guitar copy by one of the world’s finest luthiers. Rogers tuners in Panormo style. Professional custom-built Kingham case.
Brasilian rosewood back and sides. Aquila gut strings.

Two years ago Simon Ambridge gave the instrument a checkover, polished the frets, and gave it a clean bill of health.

A new one would set you back £4,500! This one is on sale at £2,300 – a bargain…

Rodriguez FC Classical Guitar – short scale 60cms string length – £700 – 700 UK Pounds

Ideal for people with small hands, but not exclusively so. I have large hands, and this is my scale of choice.

There are some scratches where my little finger touches the soundboard – the Canadian Cedar soundboard is French polished to increase resonance.
Ebony re-enforcement strip in neck. An amzing guitar for its size and price.
A new one would be over One Thousand Pounds, but you can have this for £700 plus shipping.
The case in the photos is included in the price. The guitar is only one year old.

2. English Classical 5-string banjo by Parslow, c.1900 – £750

The English banjo maker, Parslow, is regarded as one of the finest makers of English classical banjos. It is possible that the neck is by Temlett – another notable maker.
This is a superb, loud banjo, highly appropriate for the work of composers such as Joe Morley and Emile Grimshaw.

Currently with a Fiberskyn head. Recently upgraded by Helmut Rheingans, including excellent ebony tuning pegs. Plays superbly.
